Grimm Audio MU1 and MU2 Music Players

Yesterday I pulled the trigger and ordered the MU2 to replace my MU1/MMT combination. 

Delivery will take place  during next month.

I'm very curious or and howmuch the MU2 will outperform the MU1/MMT combination which is in my opnion already very good but having a Swiss knife solution attracts me too.

Today I received the MU2 replacing my MMT/MU1 combination.

Old Roon database and music is installed and I did already some listening through headphones ( Focal Utopia).

First impressions are good.

There is difference between the MU2 and MMT/MU1.

I don't know or this is caused by the headphone output of the MU2 which I think it is "better" than headphone output of the MMT.

Maybe because of the analogue pre-amp of the MU2

Tomorrow I'll play through my amp and speakers.

I have the MU2 now for 1 week and kept it running all the time.

The MU2 is directly connected into my power amp, my MMT/MU1 combination was also connected without pre-amp.

At first listening session I was a little bit disappointed.  I heard a difference in the lows, maybe less lows?

But after listening for several days the tonal balance of the MU2 outperformed the MMT/MU1 and is superb in my opinion. There is more space between voices and sometimes I heard details I never noticed before. 

After all I'm very satisfied with the MU2.

The GTT Video guy, there is a possibility he sold the most MU1s in the US. He may have sold a lot of Tambaquis. Anyone who bought those pieces is going to want to trade them in for an MU2. He is going to be so sad about this. So sad. None more sad.

 

This piece of gear is stunning! I can choose to stream to the BACCH units Endpoint. I send the processed signal right to the MU2s DAC and hooray. But if I choose to use the MU2 as an endpoint, all that processing (which I love) is gone.

 

Right now I am just listening to the MU2, playing DSD256 without alteration, and boy. Wow!

I now own the MU2 for 2 weeks and my opinion   it's better than MU1/MMT but this is only my opinion :)
