JoeWhip
It will not play the DSD layer of sacds. CD only. No blu ray either. Link to comment

My understanding is that inside the Yggy the signal gets upsampled so they can run their filter non destructively. Yes, the megaburrito filter Which I believe runs at DXD levels, i.e. 352.8 and 384. I buy the Yggy for that and send bit perfect data in, at least, as bit perfect as I can get using Audirvana with all upsampling etc turned off. AudioDoctor 1 Link to comment
JoeWhip
It only plays CDs guys. However, it has a Unison USB out. MM has noted that having Unison out and in sounds great. That is why I am very interested. Oh, and I won’t be using it to play CDs. So.... I think you can figure out the rest. And no, there is no fiber. Just reread Mike’s posts about it. Link to comment
JoeWhip
I doubt it. In one of the postings back, Mike indicated that he is working on a gadget that will enable them to test Unison out with other DACs. I hope to have one of them in a few weeks to run some tests on DACs I have access too. This is for testing purposes only I would suppose, and not as a commercial product. Mike and Dave are busy guys. But the transport is it. Link to comment

JoeWhip
This is a testing gadget to see if Unison USB works with non Schiit DACs. Think of it as a Unison Eitr. It is not a commercial product and can be used before the transport is ready. This unit is in beta but the transport in alpha. Seems pretty simple to me. Link to comment
JoeWhip
Guys, just wait till the transport is announced. I have said too much. Link to comment
JoeWhip
I would say yes as the Unison usb, to these ears, is a significant upgrade over gen 5, at least with my Yggy. Link to comment
JoeWhip
What Matt said. If the usb input is flawed, it will not sound as good as one that isn’t. Link to comment
JoeWhip
The usb c was a bit of a curveball for me. I have found a nice usb c to b cable from the Oyaide DJ line for about $40 but can’t find a usb b to c adapter to use with my current usb a to b cable, also from the Oyaide DJ line. By the way, for those interested, the transport will act as a Unison usb Eitr as well. Usb in and spdif and AES out. The Computer Audiophile 1 Link to comment
JoeWhip
Well that solves that. Two new cables it is. Maybe I can get Jason to reconsider! Link to comment
JoeWhip
I believe that it will as it will be a Unison in like on the Yggy, Gumby and BiFrost and that sure improves the sound along with the Unison out. Time will tell. Hopefully I will have one soon. Link to comment
JoeWhip
Nothing firm. The metal work for the box is in as they showed it as are the mechanisms. They are waiting for some brackets for the box. Reading between the lines, it would appear they are out or just about out of firmware hell. They want to do a robust beta which should take a couple of months, so I would expect that they could start selling the transport in December depending on the results of the beta but more likely in January. However, I am not a psychic. Link to comment
JoeWhip
Yes, the SchiiT URD will have at least one USB input which is why it is of such an interest to me. MM claims that Unison out to Unison in is the bee’s knees. The transport will also function as an EITR for those that want to use coax or AES. I do not think it will have a toslink output. They are making the beta units now and I hope to have one in late January. The only bug in the ointment is that all of the usb in and outputs will be usb c which means new cables. Link to comment
JoeWhip
I can get an adapter for A to C, but none exist for B to C. Jason has talked about selling USB c cables. Link to comment
JoeWhip
Yes, I use an Oyaide cable now and will be getting these once it is confirmed that the unit is shipping. Link to comment
JoeWhip
I cannot find an a to c cable anywhere or a male a to female c adapter. Link to comment
JoeWhip
I have emailed Jason with this request. matthias 1 Link to comment
JoeWhip
The cables should be out before the Urd. Link to comment
JoeWhip
Supposedly due to the fact of the Unison usb output. Mike claims that Unison out to in is fantastic. matthias 1 Link to comment
JoeWhip
We will be hosting a virtual meeting with Mike in late February with our local audio group. It was scheduled for October but we had to cancel due to Mike’s Health issue which I was not able to talk about. Glad to see he is doing so well. These issues will be discussed.
