Ralf11
I want to prevent some songs from playing in Genius, Artist or Album plays but not delete them. e.g. I want to avoid hearing the most dissonant Trane songs when I use iTunes to play my Jazz Genius 'list' or my Coltrane albums. But I don't want to delete the songs from my catalog of all music in iTunes or from the HDD. Link to comment

kirkmc
Or, select any track(s) in any view, right click, and choose Uncheck Selection. You must have checked Songs list checkboxes in the General preferences if you're using the new Music app for this to be possible. Ralf11 1 I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. Ralf11
How do the effects of those two techniques differ - say, in other 'modes' of playback? Link to comment
kirkmc
Unchecked tracks don't play in any mode. If you do want to play them, say when you're playing a complete album, you need to re-check them. They shouldn't make any difference at all. However I don't see the tick boxes in modes other than "song". Ralf11 1 Link to comment
Popular Post kirkmc
No, you won't see boxes, but unchecked tracks will be dimmed in other views.
