Popular Post wgscott
I worry that the whole "objectivist"/"subjectivist" divide is a false dichotomy. Most people are some combination of the two, and appear to lead perfectly well-adjusted lives free of the cognitive dissonance that this imaginary divide would presumably precipitate. Creating internet echo-chambers and exclusive clubs poisons intelligent discourse. The reality is that (like Democracy), real, intelligent, informed discourse is often messy and at times less than completely dispassionate. It looks pretty awful until you consider the alternatives. wgscott
Also, I hope current forum users, regardless of their country of residence, will be allowed the rights that residents of EU states have -- including the right to be forgotten, and to have their blogs, photographs, and identifying information deleted. Popular Post wgscott
Maybe have two general forums as an experiment? One could be as we have now -- minimal moderation. The other, in parallel, could be as proposed, with more significant moderation, post limits, etc. The O.P. can choose which one to post to, based upon what kind of discussions they value. Everyone gets to see in real-time which one (or both) thrives. Ajax and Jud 1 1 Link to comment
