There is some good and neutral Information around active vs passive speakers from Hans Beekhuyzen. I generally like his way of analyzing hifi topics in a more scientific way.

Scientific? Really? I suggest you look up the word so you know what it means before you use it the next time.

He has a German accent and an oscilloscope behind his shoulder. What more do you want?

I think "Germanic" might be more appropriate if you are going there. Isn't he Dutch?

Ooops.  Well, he ain't no 'mericun.  You can tell by the absence of a MAGA hat.

(Besides, isn't English a Germanic language?)

It was a bad choice of words in the first place. I was just trying to be nice by suggesting "Germanic". English is a Germanic language, but it's sort of a distant cousin and the accent certainly isn't Germanic. (Think how many English speakers have trouble with gutturals as in "Bach").  Dutch and German accents aren't  the same, but you  could classify the Dutch accent as Germanic, since Dutch is most definitely a Germanic language.
