I heard both Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey at the age of 16-17 and was sure the slide guitar sounds were coming from an instrument deriving from some traditional African instrument, they weren't although they were supposed to sound like some African fiddles (great examples of Malian bluesy 'fiddles' can be found on Ali Farka Toure's albums eg one with Ry Cooder). In general musicians in Africa happened to be inspired by unexpected sources eg Fela Anikulapo Kuti and his fascination with big band jazz on one hand and James Brown funk on the other one. Probably the best KSA's album: Something really special: Alhaji Tanko - 'I'm a Cow' - available on... MOOO Records! BTW I'm absolutely sure no-one following this thread identifies with a ..goat.. Cows rule! That was inspirational. King Sunny Ade and some fine pedal steel guitar accompaniment. Thanks. sphinxsix 1 Link to comment

I mean the guitar riff and distorted organ sound badass together, but may that's too superficial: "Fortunately – miraculously, even – no one was killed in the blaze. According to Zappa, most injuries were minor cuts and burns, with only a few people going to the hospital. But the casino was completely engulfed in flames, and all of the band's equipment was destroyed, except, oddly enough, a cowbell." A cowbell in Switzerland. Auspicious! Would love to play one of those. sphinxsix 1 Link to comment

Proof for those who don't trust Christopher: Even a cowherd would have to believe that. This calls for a brief musical tribute to the cowbell: "Honky Tonk Women" by The Rolling Stones (nb: honky tonk is very cow) "Good Times Bad Times" (Remaster) · Led Zeppelin (just wish the cowbell was a little more forward in the mix, don't you?) finally, the sleeper of this group and a benchmark for cowbell: I Guess You Made It (Live) · Poco (first 1:20!) That is COW AF! Encore! Link to comment

christopher3393
I cannot find the words to adequately explain my feelings about this song .💭 The Lyrics: COWMAN MILK YOUR COW (writers : Barry Gibb / Robin Gibb) Adam Faith - 1967 Cowman, milk your cow Keep away from the dark skies Who knows what the weather may bring Could be snow when the white dove sings That could be a million years And that's a long long time Tell me how many springs will it take before the end And how many breathes will it take till the moment when we all decide Maybe for a million years And that's a long long time Cowman, milk your cow Keep away from the dark skies Who knows what the weather may bring Could be snow when the white dove sings That could be a million years And that's a long long time Tiger in your cage You're not different from the man I know All my world's a stage I'm just waiting for the evening show That could be a million years And that's a long long time Cowman, milk your cow Keep away from the dark skies Who knows what the weather may bring Could be snow when the white dove sings That could be a million years And that's a long long time That could be a million years And that's a long long time Long long long time Long long long time (fade) The Singer: The Songwriters and Background Singers: "These days we behave like an ox in autumn or summer that sniffs at everything and becomes engaged with nothing;" --- Dölpa Sherap Gyatso, "The Blue Udder" Iving 1 Link to comment
