Yes, the ones that mete out punishments if the grass on your lawn isn't trimmed to within a quarter inch of the prescribed value, or if you leave your car in the driveway overnight rather than parking it in the garage.

Yup - that is a contract you enter into.  My advice: DON'T.

Self-driving cars solve the drunk driving problem nicely (that as the Neuromancer himself said while "the future is already here, it is not evenly distributed).

But the search problem is not going away, as the US Border Patrol can stop and search you or your  car many, many miles from the US border...

Police ... can demand to see ... ID, even if you are walking [].

Nope.

Only if they have "reasonable suspicion" of a crime (or at min., an infraction).  (Note I said of a crime, not that you committed it - i.e. you might be a witness.)

A bike is a vehicle so they may well be able to do so in that case.

Another fun fact was a situation a year or so ago, when the local courts needed to fill out their jury pool.  They sent Sheriff's deputies out into the streets, asking people if they were county residents...  anyone who said yes, got nabbed and induced to perform forced labor.

So, if a deputy ever asks you, the innocent pedestrian, if you live in the county, or where do you live don't answer...

re:  there is zero contradiction between a democracy and "socialism"

there is a risk to socialism or anything where additional power inheres in a govt. - without adequate controls, you may lose your democracy

of course, strong govt. is required to control large, powerful corporations

but then large, powerful corporations may take over control of the govt. insofar as it affects them (so common it has a name: "administrative capture")
