PaulKVan
Sony suggests you back up your files before sending the product for repair. You will need an appropriately sized external hard drive to do this. Just follow the instructions in the manual. I backup routinely to a hard drive just in case I have a catastrophic hardware failure. Yes, I do that, thanks. My concern is with the edits I've made to metadata, eg. Track titles, album covers, etc. that the HAP can import from Gracenotes when I upload a digitized LP. It's not clear (despite a chat with Sony support) whether those metadata are retained with the backup copies or whether they're retained in some sort of internal registry on the HAP, and therefore lost if the HAP gets replaced or re-formatted. Has anyone had the experience of restoring their database and having their edits survive or not? Link to comment
Pantslangford
I had the same problem with Sony Hap S1 not playing the tracks. I resolved the issue by going to settings / HDD Settings / Rescan HDD and it worked like a charm. No need to update firmware or do a factory reset. Link to comment
