mitkey
setting up dual pc is so complicated as I perceive. my control pc and audio pc is connected to the same router. control pc -> windows 7 64 bit audio pc -> win 8.1 64 bit I install jplay on both pc then I go to audiopc, use audio pc and search. it found the pc and ask me to restart jplay setting. in the audio pc, i see it points to 214 at control pc, i set normally. when i play foobar with output asia:jplay. nothing happens. this is pulling my hair off. control PC : NUC 5ppyh, LPS Audio PC : 2 x PPA V3 USB audio PC, HDPLEX LPS USB SPDIF : Singxer F1 DAC : MSB Analog (dedicated power supply) with Quad rate USB Power amp : AudioGD C1 Speaker : Dynaudio C1 Subwoofer : REL Stratus II Link to comment
clipper
Hi. It should be really easy. Once you have the same version of JPLAY installed on both machines: 1) Go into JPLAY Settings on the Control PC. 2) In the Audio PC setting (still on the Control PC), set it to "Search my LAN for JPLAY" and hit OK. 3) JPLAY should find your Audio PC and close the settings window. 4) Run JPLAY Settings again and set the AUDIO PC setting (still on the Control PC) to the Name/IP address of your Audio PC (which was found in step 3). 5) Change any other settings you want to change, and hit OK. Be sure to try out Hibernate Mode, which works really well on a 2-PC setup. Link to comment

Wrong. You should open JPLAYsettings on controlpc (the PC without a DAC). You don't touch audiopc at all - all settings should be done only on controlpc Cheers, Marcin JPLAY & JCAT Founder Link to comment
mitkey
my control pc and audio pc is connected to the same router. control pc -> windows 8.1 64 bit audio pc -> win 8.1 64 bit [system setup : Asus H97M-E, I3 4160, 8GB] I install jplay on both pc. when I use control PC to ping audio PC, I receive signals. however when I try to telnet audioPC, it just would not let me connect. the same thing happens if I use another PC or notebook. HOWEVER, I can always reverse the audiopc as host and it can always connect to the client PC. strange. I have added exception to firewall on both PC and also disable the antivirus or defender. It seems the audioPC port 48168 can not be open?? control PC : NUC 5ppyh, LPS Audio PC : 2 x PPA V3 USB audio PC, HDPLEX LPS USB SPDIF : Singxer F1 DAC : MSB Analog (dedicated power supply) with Quad rate USB Power amp : AudioGD C1 Speaker : Dynaudio C1 Subwoofer : REL Stratus II Link to comment
mitkey
I manage to solve the bug! Basically instarted as single in the aidiopc during setup. I went back and reinstall Jplay in audiopc and unselect the single PC option i.e.e dual pc setup, voila it works. control PC : NUC 5ppyh, LPS Audio PC : 2 x PPA V3 USB audio PC, HDPLEX LPS USB SPDIF : Singxer F1 DAC : MSB Analog (dedicated power supply) with Quad rate USB Power amp : AudioGD C1 Speaker : Dynaudio C1 Subwoofer : REL Stratus II Link to comment

mitkey
can i know how to make dual pc sound better. my audio pc is on a dedicated LPS and with good clock. my control pc is on a smps and both are connected using LAN through the router which also has a wall mart. meaning after trying dual pc i do not find them sound as good as single pc. is it the Lan noise? will wireless usb stick or wireless lan card avoid the ground noise of the Lan ? control PC : NUC 5ppyh, LPS Audio PC : 2 x PPA V3 USB audio PC, HDPLEX LPS USB SPDIF : Singxer F1 DAC : MSB Analog (dedicated power supply) with Quad rate USB Power amp : AudioGD C1 Speaker : Dynaudio C1 Subwoofer : REL Stratus II Link to comment
kaka
Another method is to have 2 network cards in the control machine and to cable one of them direct to the audio machine, not using the router for that connection It means setting up the network cards to talk to each other, and obviously the audio machine drops off your main network Source: Pink Faun Ultra - Chord DAVE Amps: VTV Purifi Speakers: Trenner and Friedel RA Cables : JCAT reference USB, Tellerium XLR, Kubula-Sosna Elation speaker Plus CEC TL 5 Cd transport - Blackcat Tron BNC - Chord DAVE Link to comment
jram
It's the way Audiophile suggests to use Jplay in dual PC setup. In this configuration, I don't feel a big improvement in SQ when I use an optical fiber in place of the CAT6 cable . Link to comment

How about Dirac. Doni install it in control pc or audio pc? control PC : NUC 5ppyh, LPS Audio PC : 2 x PPA V3 USB audio PC, HDPLEX LPS USB SPDIF : Singxer F1 DAC : MSB Analog (dedicated power supply) with Quad rate USB Power amp : AudioGD C1 Speaker : Dynaudio C1 Subwoofer : REL Stratus II Link to comment

It will sound better if control pc is powered by a LPS. All processing/DSP is done on controlpc, so Dirac must be installed on controlpc. On Audiopc you don't need anything apart from jplay and driver for your DAC. Cheers, Marcin JPLAY & JCAT Founder Link to comment

Cheers, Marcin every change affects the sound. I put the bridge to linear power supply, with proper filter and it further improves the sound. now that my audiopc is hibernate mode, does it help if I remove the GUI mode from the audiopc ? now that i hav gui mode, if i remove gui and move to core, will it remove my ddc driver ? control PC : NUC 5ppyh, LPS Audio PC : 2 x PPA V3 USB audio PC, HDPLEX LPS USB SPDIF : Singxer F1 DAC : MSB Analog (dedicated power supply) with Quad rate USB Power amp : AudioGD C1 Speaker : Dynaudio C1 Subwoofer : REL Stratus II Link to comment

It depeneds if you're doing it manually or using AO. Both methods will not remove your DDC driver, but KS will not be possible. AO takes care of that JPLAY & JCAT Founder Link to comment
mitkey
well the tweak that I have done maintains the KS. its really amazing sounding. I have achieved transparency like never before. so I quickly changed the control PC to server 2012 in GUI mode as I needed to foobar only with Jplay. does anyone use control PC in core mode too ? control PC : NUC 5ppyh, LPS Audio PC : 2 x PPA V3 USB audio PC, HDPLEX LPS USB SPDIF : Singxer F1 DAC : MSB Analog (dedicated power supply) with Quad rate USB Power amp : AudioGD C1 Speaker : Dynaudio C1 Subwoofer : REL Stratus II Link to comment
