Morning.... a quick question for the group- I have two drives (music1/music 2) in my N10; if I use the same folder name on each drive, will the source material be combined into one folder with the same name?

Reading through the really puts a smile on my face to say the least. I've owned two N100H's and recently upgraded to an N10 and can't be more pleased. All of the talk about clocks, Roon, Optical cables and such really is disappointing... just listen to your music and enjoy the moment; that's the point.

Agreed but I am listening to a lovely ECM recording that would sound amazing played through a tin can.

@bsinc- please let me know where it ends up; I own a N10/ Ayre QX5 Twenty so I'm probably in the same boat and am curious if it can be corrected.

I highly recommend an AES balanced cable over optical or USB. quality of sound is deeper, richer and smoother.

@ari- quick question- will my music stored on a NAS provide the same sound quality as the internal drives on my N10?

Hey all- first this isn’t a battle royal conversation to determine who’s mightiest  in the land; just a simple question- why does Roon sound better than my N10?

 

roon: MacBook Pro (Nas wirelessly containing flac files> ayre qx5 twenty> audio research la28> ayre amp> Vandersteen quatro’s

 

aurender: n10> AES balanced cable> sure qx5 twenty and the rest is the same. 
 

all cables are audioquest diamond

 

so same music, the Roon has more punch and a greater range, same soundstage

 

aurender seems smoother but duller.

Sorry.. forgot to mention that the macbookpro(Roon core) is communicating  to the ayre via WIFi so no cables.

Hello Aurenders!

 

CONNECTOR REQUEST: The ability to delete tracks, albums and/or Artist in the app. With limited space on the app, it would be great to add that feature similar to other music management apps.

@kilroy- I have a NAS which is where I store my primary library; I'd like the ability to delete when my moods change such as, I've over listened xxx and want to reload the Aurender drives with YYY. It wuld be for those reasons. Incidentally, I have three different sources for backups so the Aurender is for "today's mood" and not long-lasting fiiles if that makes sense

@The Computer Audiophile- Very good point however, ACS is not supported in Big Sur so that's a big no (unfortunately). Roon does have the option to delete albums inside the program which is very useful and works,

Ah, sorry… you’re right and was thinking of the software that the wrote for usb drives.

I’ve migrated from a N100 to N10 and found it to be similar in SQ but with a better quality; more exactness and quieter if you know what I mean. I replaced the 2.5” drives with 5TB drives and wished that the worked a one big drive instead of two separate drives. A real PITA if you ask me. Also I went to balanced cables which added smoothness and a more relaxed sound. Look forward to you opinions.

Has anybody had an issue upgrading N10 firmware? I'm running 4.21.345 and the app is telling me that 4.21.932 was available to upgrade. I've tried via the app ~5 times without success. Any help would be appreciated.

Pretty simple actually; the ability to delete files, albums and folders.  I’d like to delete directly from the app.

that's why there's vanilla and chocolate I suppose; why have to switch apps to delete files and not do everything from a single app? It's easier and more present IMO.

I understand but keep my "owned" music on the NAS and my current listening portfolio on the Aurender; two different approaches, no bad answers here. In the meantime, my N10 bombed out during the latest firmware update so watch out!

Hey all- topic covered before but looking for new perspective… cabling from the N10 > DAC (Ayre qx5 twenty). Do you prefer balanced or unbalanced cables? I’m currently running AES but am thinking of switching to USB. thoughts? Thanks all

My recommendation would be to go big and get an Orbi mesh system whereas you can locate a satellite next to the Aurender. Works like a charm

New question (or software request). Is there a way to schedule the music to stop playing after xxxx minutes? If so, how do you engage it? If not, it would be a nice feature. Usually I listen to music prior to sleep so if it stopped playing after an hour, it won’t continue playing and playing and playing….  Thanks!
