mkrzych
Hello, I've found this record as quite nice and sounding very, very good. Does anyone have some thoughts about it, could be better or is there any better performance for it? Johannes Brahms : -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. Musicophile
I had the pleasure of seeing Herreweghe conduct the Schicksalslied and Alto Rhapsody live, bout 2 years ago, and can confirm that the performances are outstanding. Probably the best version of the alto rhapsody is this one: http://www.qobuz.com/ch-de/album/wagner-brahms-beethoven-mahler-wesendonck-lieder-etc-christa-ludwig-philharmonia-orchestra-otto-klemperer/0094636159652 But Ann Hallenberg, while no Christa Ludwig, does a really good job. Lucky you. I've heard this only over the web, but it caught my attention - not without the the reason I guess. -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. BTW, do you think that's better to go for 24/44.1 or CD in this case should be almost the same since much cheaper? -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. I personally like the sound of the 24744 Harmonia Mundi recordings I have, they usually are well recorded. Whether just increasing bit depth improves the sound is a matter of debate, I often go for the highest resolution out of principle, it all depends on how much the premium really is. Not sure this is a typo - it is easy to believe you in fact own 24,744 Harmonia Mundi recordings (and have counted them). :-) One never knows, do one? - Fats Waller The fairest thing we can experience is the mysterious. I have no idea how many Harmonia Mundi albums I actually have as I only added the label to my metatags recently. Probably 200+. mkrzych
Don't worry, I was able to not see this typo ? I went for redbook and report back when got some time to listen to aver my cans. -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. It is also the most noble. mkrzych
BTW, when listened to that fantastic album I've found some analogy to Beethoven's 9th, just by the feeling of choir and drama of the pieces, but maybe I am wrong… P.S. One nice touch in the liner notes ;-) Recording: 18-20 July 2011, Warsaw, Polskie Radio, Witold Lutoslawski Studio -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art.
