PeterSt
This will be off-topic, or maybe not : I do notice when I started a thread about what makes a good filter, it died pretty quickly. Peter was the only "technical" person to respond, and for non-technical folks, maybe not enough controversy? Jud, I don't know how you do it, but it is exactly this I wanted to mention yesterday in this thread as an example of some sort. But I didn't know how to put it, just as your text will not make all the sense of the world. But now I can try in poor fashion : That thread sprung from the "Are we kidding ourselves" mentioned in the thread here for reasons (of course). So Jud took out a more serious subject and put it in its own thread. What happened next ? NOTHING. Post count is 5 or 6 and the subject is quite serious. So is that what we want ? I guess not. But quite coincidental that Jud mentions it without too many words. Or not of course. Peter was the only "technical" person to respond, and for non-technical folks, maybe not enough controversy? For most 'non-technical folks' like me, I believe it has nothing to do with controversy. Rather, it is far more likely due to a lack of interest and/or anything to contribute. "Relax, it's only hi-fi. Hi Jud The way I see it , is that some folk are likely to quote from Wiki entries, and others who insist on remaining anonymous, may not be as authoritative as they would wish us to believe. These kinds of discussions are perhaps best left to more specialised forums, or at least those who do have real expertise in this area, could perhaps provide links to appropriate forum discussions or engineering papers, where their views are peer reviewed ? All that Identical Checksums gives is the possibility of REGENERATING the file to close to that of the original file. PROFILE UPDATED 13-11-2020 Link to comment
