skimo907
Ok, here's the deal i have built my computer server i wont bore you with what the build was other than it has a asus xonor stx sound card. This question is about my music componants, i have a sunfire 600 watt amp and a sunfire pre-amp. Problem is the pre-amp has no digital input, so im looking for a new pre-amp. I was thinking the benchmark DAC1 HDR. I welcome any and all sugestions. Link to comment
mwheelerk
You do not necessarily need a new pre-amp but you should add an external DAC. Then all you need is to make the digital connection between the computer and DAC (USB, coax, Toslink) and analog interconnects from the DAC to your pre-amp. "A mind is like a parachute. skimo907
Thank you so much for the comment, that was the answer i was hoping for. Now time for research to find the best bang for the buck DAC. Link to comment
AudioDoctor
your asus card also has analog outputs. You could try those too. No electron left behind. Link to comment
Daren F
I have the ST version of the Asus card. It has a decent Texas Instruments Burr Brown DAC. Before you spend any money on a new external DAC, you should try connecting the analog outputs on your card to your preamp. I have also found that I get the best sound using the ASIO4ALL driver with J River 17 on Windows 7. Link to comment
