Qobuz replacing e-Onkyo service in Japan

Recommended Posts

Years ago I signed up for e-Onkyo, as you could download some Japanese albums not available elsewhere.

That service ended a while back, but today I got this email (Google Translate from Japanese).

*Since this e-mail is an important communication related to the service, it is also sent to customers who do not have permission to receive e-mail newsletters. note that.
Thank you for using e-onkyo music. Announced on e-onkyo music on April 5, 2023 "About the end of distribution of WAV, MQA, MQA Studio, DIFF, MLP (Dolby TrueHD), and 32-bit sound sources" We will notify you of any corrections regarding this matter.
In the previous information, we informed you that you can re-download songs purchased from e-onkyo music even after the service transition to "Qobuz". The specifications and rules will be changed before the start of "Qobuz" service in Japan. (Error) Even after the service transition to "Qobuz", you will be able to re-download the sound sources you purchased with e-onkyo music. (Correct)
After the service transition to "Qobuz", you will not be able to re-download the discontinued works and sound source formats. * For works purchased on e-onkyo music and sound source formats whose distribution ended on April 25, you can re-download on e-onkyo music until the end of August 2023. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers regarding this matter. We are currently preparing for the launch of Qobuz services in Japan. By providing our customers with a unified ecosystem of streaming apps that offer a wide range of content, we believe we can greatly enhance the customer's music experience. We will let you know as soon as the details are decided. We look forward to your continued patronage of e-onkyo music and the new service Qobuz. Xandrie Japan Co., Ltd.

Not sure it means that. It may mean the opposite: that they will simply replace the e-Onkyo service with Qobuz. But in any case, maybe it will make more Japanese sourced material available.
