Will Asynchronous USB into SPDIF Benefit Nova DAC?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Has anyone tried one of the Asynchronous USB/SPDIF interfaces (Halide Bridge, MF V-LINK, etc) into the SPDIF of a Peachtree Nova? From Chris' review of the iNova, seems the older Nova may not have the best USB implementation, and looking back at his review of the Nova, he got his best results going into the SPDIF input.

I'm using a Nova as a Dac-only via USB from a Mini. I thought the sound quality was pretty good until I bought a $600 CD player that sounded better. Now I'm wondering about ways to improve the Mac/Nova sound quality.

Thanks,

Rascal

Do you remember what kind of sonic change you noticed?

I was concerned about the quality of the Nova's SPDIF (Coax) input, since I had disappointing results running my MH CDP through it, but maybe it was the cable quality (just used a stock Blue Jean cable) or the CDP's output.

Thanks,

Rascal

Has anyone tried a Halide or MF V-Link with the new iNova? Is the iNova any better at handling jitter than the Nova? Thanks.
