No mention of Linux computers. DSD sources are routed to T+A's custom 'True 1-bit DSD converter' for native delivery up to DSD1024/49MHz (via a Windows PC running an installed driver; for Mac users, the USB-B input maxes out at DSD256) However, the manual does mention Linux. The DAC 200 accepts digital PCM stereo signals with sampling rates of 44.1...768 kSps and digital DSD stereo signals from DSD64 to DSD1024* at this input. * DSD512 to DSD1024 only from a Windows PC with installed driver or from a Linux PC with kernel 4.4 or higher. e.Latte and OE333 1 1 Eric Audio System Link to comment

Well, he should have read the manual. It only took about 2 minutes to find this in the manual. 🙂 The original DAC8 DSD didn't support officially Linux (stated on the T+A website) but it could be updated to do so. That is what I had to do with my mine with some help from @OE333. As you know, there are LOTS of music servers and the like (e.g. Sonore Rendu's, etc.) that are Linux-based which could cause those owners to stay away from the DAC200 with this lack of information. If I were T+A, I would ask the writer for this to be corrected. DuckToller, OE333 and The Computer Audiophile 3 Eric Audio System Link to comment

Or D_SUB to USB as stated earlier. Here is the parts list for the cable I constructed when successfully updating the firmware of my DAC8 DSD. Note this uses the RJ12 (not RJ45) connector that @OE333 mentioned above. There is T+A documentation that describes which pins to use on the DB9 breakout connector. DAC 200 price is irrelevant to this conversation. Most of the below Qs relate to labels on DAC 200's rear panel: What is SYS IN? What is USB SYS? What is HDMI OUT (ARC?) What is CTRL? What is CHARGE? Is there ethernet connector (appears not)? Is TV HDMI > DAC 200 OK? Ditto TV optical > DAC 200? Which performs better? Describe the method for firmware/software updates. Another friend says DAC 200's DSD decoding is "unique." If possible, please comment. Thank you in advance for your kind help. Perhaps you can find most of your answers on pages 44-45 of the Users Manual. The Computer Audiophile 1 Eric Audio System Link to comment

DIY adaptor - it looks like this company waveshare uses legit PL2303(xx) chips and keeps up with new revisions (latest is PL2303GS). I have ordered one of these https://www.waveshare.com/pl2303-usb-uart-board-type-c.htm from Amazon and will solder ethernet to the 4 pins (+100 ohm resistors on TX/RX). If you are looking for a cable to upgrade DAC firmware, I made one a few years ago and was able to successfully do upgrade. PM me if you want to borrow my cable. camott 1 Eric Audio System Link to comment

The DAC8DSD had a RJ12 connector, the DAC200 programming input is RJ45. Yes, you are correct, mine was a DAC8DSD. My apologies. Eric Audio System Link to comment
