Thank you for reading review. Yes, i compared it to Hegel HD30, which is 4 times more expensive. Hegel had much more bass, had more warmth and "soul". Pegasus played more transparent and clean in midrange and upper. But i would prefer sound of Hegel for my loudspeakers. 

With Dynaudio C4 sound was really good, smooth and transparent. With lot of good and clean bass. But there was still lack of long endings.

The driver installation on Win 10 PC was straight forward and everything worked flawlessly. 

 

Every aspect of music reproduction is bettered. Better resolution and stereo image/focus, speakers disappeared.  But not like day and night. The biggest difference is bass reproduction. Now the bass is cleaner, better defined with better dynamics.

 

Overall, I am happy with this replacement.

 

Except...

 

When I tried to install the driver on PC with Windows Server 2019, the problem starts with USB installation. In several attempts, the PC did not recognize the Pegasus. Even more the input button for USB lights only when I turn off the Pegasus - very strange!? Obviously driver is not suitable for Win Server 2019.

 

Any advise or help would be mostly welcomed!

 

 

I also want to confirm that after more than half a year, the DAC performes much better than it did at first. All problems with low frequencies are gone, the DACnow  is much more musical, the harshness has gone. And if at first I thought to sell it and change it for something else, now it is a valuable component of the system, which I don't want to change any more.

I have this dac at home for 2 years already. Mostly i used it for watching TV, not for music. But i noticed, that it was sounding better and better. So i took it  to system of my friend with Dynaudio C4 and Mark Levinson CD player (10k EUR), we compared CD's on ML with Files form MAC computer by USB, and i can say, that both sounded great. Pegasus had even more details and bass and depth of scene. ML was little bit more analogue. But all the bad things which you can hear first half of year or more of using Musician Pegasus, like lack of bass, harshness on highs etc - totally dissapeared. Sound was amasing. I also checked at home MiniDSP SHD DAC and compared it with Musician - Musician didn't left any chance for SHD (though SHD has also room corrector). So my verdict now is - this is really BEST BUY product. But you have to warm it up for really long time.
