Ralf11
given that 'people' are a subset of a nocturnally active Class of animals, it is always possible that there is some chronobiology acting here - moreover, night conceals predators well (from day active higher primates) so there may have been selection pressure rel. recently for improved night hearing (let us all assume some constraint on around the clock auditory performance) continuing with speculation, but shifting its focus... there is likely less line noise at night (esp. in the highly urbanized condos & apts. favored by the audiophile cognoscenti) so that could be an effect Without data, we can ramble on relatively unfettered in true audiophile fashion... at least until the Big Rip Link to comment
