My Mom used to play the radio broadcasts of the the Metropolitan every weekend, so it's not like I wasn't exposed to it. I have been to a couple of performances and enjoyed those more. I guess having the visuals made me not notice that I don't actually like the singing. Sorry to insult the opera lovers, but I'd rather listen to the singing of Muddy Waters, John Lennon, Joe Williams, or Sinatra any day.
