I had 3. They sound great but I had issues with my PC at the time and it could have been related to a PSU issue. Loved the sound when it wasn't dropping sync but I went in another direction and returned the 3rd replacement. Ironic I know, but seriously check one out. See if Bill will take it back if you don't like the sound.

I have heard this DAC and can relate you my experiences. I attended a club (other than my own) and someone had the EE Dac there without a lot of time on it. I had with my at that time, my Dell XP Laptop , the M2tech Hiface (BNC) and my Stereovox XV@ (BNC) cable using Media monkey with Kernel Streaming plug in.

 

There were three Dac there that night, The EE, the new Music Hall Dac and a PS Audio Dac.

 

The best sound that meeting was when my setup ran through the EE Dac.

 

I now use a mac laptop, tweaked out for Audio and find that to be be better. Tomorrow i expect the enclosure for my portable fire wire external drive to arrive.

 

Reduce the number of CPU cycles in either the Mac or Windows to achieve the best sound. Also, use the proper programs for best sound quality. For the Mac, use play, for Windows try J River media Center or Media monkey.
