  1. Ted which model are you demoing? Can someone speak with authority as to the output stage? Is there any difference in XLR vs. SE? Discrete output?
  2. I may have to pick one up for my 2nd system, and compare to my Vega's topology. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  3. If you want DSD256 on Windows, I had to install the newest driver which is not listed on the Web Page, but this Auralic Support Page: AURALiC USB Driver Version 3.34.0 – AURALIC LIMITED Using JRMC with pretty good stability in EXACT clock mode for PCM2DSD256
  4. ANYONE using JRIVER successfully with DSD256 and Vega?
  5. OOB Foobar doesn't play quad DSD. jriver does. Auralic has yet to put up a FAQ on how to do DSD256 on either platform. My iDSD works fine with jriver at dsd512 WITH PCM2DSD!!! With Foobar, the modules mentioned to me after I investigated don't even allow pcm2dsd so how the hell is it even supposed to work?!?? Cluster##@:;@@#!?!
  6. Sadly never was able to get dsd256 working in jriver. Going to work with tech soon on this.
  7. Do it. They have really dropped the ball on customer support. They literally have one tech who has obviously been outsourced. Troubleshooting has been pushed wholly on to me and I am swamped....something obviously wrong with my unit and they refuse to test with JRMC, pushing me to use Foobar which I can't stand with it's overly modular setup.
  8. Sad to report that I still can't get DSD256 working with JRMC, and I finally started to sit down and try with Foobar (even though JRMC will do DSD512 to my ifi natively) and now I can play no DSD files. Working with Auralic tech support for 4 months now...wtf. My upgraded Vega has suddenly stopped recognized the DoP flag; it will display 176kHz or 352kHz respectively for DSD64 or DSD128. This actually makes sense to me as I felt something was wrong from the get-go when DSD256 would not play when native DSD512 w/ JRMC works perfectly to the iFi. unreal..... I'm seriously so jaded that selling my Vega after repair is feeling like the right thing to do....
  9. I still can't get mine working after 3 months. Has the DSD256 update and JRMC plays 4XPCM2DSD native over USB to my iFi iDSD, but the Vega errors out.
  10. Rebooted. Reinstalled newest driver. No luck. Very perplexing. It should do DSD256 with DoP no? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Same exact settings play DSD256 on the ifi. Bummer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I always have latest Stable release of JRMC installed. Currently, 21.037.
  13. I've got mine back from Auralic, but out of the box it won't do DSD256 DoP with J. River like my iFi micro-iDSD. Strange...
  14. I just keep my entire unit wrapped in foil. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. On its way to me now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I did have a choice. There is no dealer in my country so I asked around and was aiming at UK. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Look, I'm just trying to offer this information up to folks who think this upgrade is "free". The UK dealer I worked with told me it is in fact free service, but I would pay for return shipping, which works out to $35 for me. My friend had offered to hand delivery the unit to UK post, but that chance has obviously passed. Auralic told me to ship direct to them once they discovered I was a "direct buyer", and once they sent a ship label, without further mention of splitting shipping, I was assuming (my fault) it was free...mainly because Mr. Wang initially assured me about no customs fees and free shipping when I bought direct a few years ago. That was great! I was wrongly still in that mindset. I mentioned paying whatever the charge would be to get the unit out of my country to them, but never heard back! I got the ship label instead so I was lumping it all together with being a "direct buyer". Wishful thinking. I'm sure it will work out, but just a little frustrating to go from a free upgrade to a $200 one...which is not chump change.
  18. Auralic mentioned in an email we could split the shipping cost, but when they sent me a UPS label I figured they were covering it both ways. I advised them I would pay anything needed to get the unit back to them; I assumed they would send it back at their cost since they made a point I was "eligible" to send it "direct" to China for the upgrade. The kicker is the European dealer I was working with, before Auralic notified me I can send to China because I bought direct from them, told me it would cost $33 for them to send the unit back after upgrade. Confused as to why I was routed to Auralic when the dealer avenue would have me out maybe $60-70, not $200.
  19. Apparently, my Vega is done, and I am being billed $200 USD. When I purchased direct from Auralic, shipping and customs were included in the cost. Auralic also sent me a UPS label to return using their UPS account with no mention of any fee. Now I am being told the upgrade is free, but shipping/customs in $200 regardless if one lives in China vs. America. Upgrade doesn't seem so free any more....and feels a bit sleazy to be honest.
  20. Streaming may the future, but it is yet another way the artist gets screwed, and the consumer ends up not owning any media. Have a computer, just use AirServer or one of its ilk to have friends stream into your hifi.

  22. What speakers do you have? Oh. Banned. Jesus, sounds like he was doing a lot of work to listen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Been using since v9? Lately I'm doing a lot of PCM2DSD and it's very stable for me now. Library server is great though I don't use it much anymore, well at times from work to do remote tagging. Did you know you can burn a CD over WAN. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. I love Kodi but I still use jriver for video due to jremote. I didn't know you could load those filters for Kodi - I have found its default video performance lacking. The iOS constellation app doesn't work with ios9, and that was the only app I had found to support direct access to video addons! Any other apps do that? Jim doesn't suffer fools and his brusque responses often feel over the top but support does exist. You just really have to work for it in the forums which can be time consuming.
