OT: Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation?

As usual with Atlantic articles the profound part of it is in some of the comments.  Besides, my generation was destroyed by TV.  The preacher told us that in church every Sunday.  Green eyed demon, one eyed monster, glowing satan in the living room.  Technology just let everyone put satan in their pocket, and take him to bed.  Moore's law works with evil too!

 

Not saying the article doesn't highlight real problems, just that every generation grows up in very different circumstances in the modern world.  Things used to change slower.  Though kids have no perspective, one of the issues is you can nearly count on any advice and warnings being out of date when you receive them.  Not sure what you do with that situation.

I bet it wouldn't take much to teach a few monkeys to play with matches.  And I bet those monkeys would teach others.  And it would spread relatively quickly.  Then if you dropped millions of matches to monkey filled areas look at the chaos that could create.  No reason to worry about GMO animals.  Properly applied plenty of those animals could be problematic as it is.
