Also, as per Oppo Email - it does not receive Apple Airplay (iTunes) over WiFi.

 

You do have several types of inputs so you could find some sort of "catcher" for Tidal and then plug it in, similar to using an Apple TV3 to "catch" the AirPlay from iTunes.

I DO care about it being a high SQ player, and I wonder if the SQ from various inputs is as good as the stand-alone Sonica...

the real question is what standalone DAC has better SQ

DAC performance/price should change pretty rapidly.  I feel the same way about the Dave pricing.

BTW, my listening tests show that my Oppo-205 sounds better than my 20+ year old Cal Audio icon (with PowerBoss), but not by a huge amount.  On Cds only.

how did you combine the disc player with the network streamer?  I'm not following this..
