Story makes no sense at all considering that HDTracks focuses on high resolution music (the "HD" part of their name ), not CD quality. They do sell a few 16/44.1 albums but certainly not the stuff mentioned ("imports, OOP sets, box sets").

 

Don't forget all the upsampled ones.

If Apple really wanted to acquire music via random members of the public ripping CDs, why wouldn't they use iTunes Match as a mechanism for doing this, since it uploads music they don't/can't match in their repository?
