Lextek
Wondering how the latest Mini would be for a server, the $499 one. I know you can't upgrade memory , but I feel better buying new when it comes to computers. Right now I'm using an old 13" MacBook, Airport Express, AppleTV, Tidal or Marantaz CD. I am running Audivarna on the laptop. Very, pleased with the sound. Link to comment

iamimdoc
Could someone comment regarding what level processor ( meaning no lags, delays, hiccoughs) and memory would be needed to guarantee good performance using jriver to play SACD ISO files and dsd files? Thanks Link to comment

Thanks The PS have not changed, that is good; allows you to upgrade. The base processor only has 3MB L3 Cache, so upgrading the processor gives you 4MB Cache. That would be better. Perhaps not as good as the late 2012 model with 6MB L3 Cache.. The drive may or may not support 2 drives, so as a server that may not be the best option? You do want the best SSD out there, in there. Ifixit notes that latest model is more difficult to open. So may have some issues there....... bourne
I do not thing that 4GB of RAM is future proof. We decided to go for the 2,6 Ghz Mac Mini with 8 GB RAM + external drive. The mini is our media server, running a huge iTunes Library and streaming Films/Netflix. Performance is fine and for audio I use a USB/AES bridge from Bryston named BUC-1 (my monitors are connected digitally). Link to comment

Thanks I am using 2009 Mac mini with a 120GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. I have never had any problems play DSF, DFF SACD ISOs or even DSD128.
