firedog
quote from Twitter: Russell Elevado @RussElevado @dagroovologist we cut laquers with the 96k digital album master. We had to slightly adjust the EQ for the vinyl. recorded totally in analog, but LP made from digital master. Unfortunately the digital download is highly volume compressed, whereas the LP isn't - according to the online DR database. When will these people learn not to volume compress the "audiophile" hi-res downloads? Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three BXT Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment

The TT DR Meter doesn't work on vinyl. They should delete all vinyl entries from the DR database >>> [video=youtube;n-AE9dL5FG8] Link to comment
firedog
Interesting. But barring an explanation from him of why it happens, I'm not 100% convinced. Generally when I compare a vinyl rip to a digital file and the dr of the vinyl is higher, it sounds that way to me. Generally when I compare a vinyl rip to a digital file and the dr of the vinyl is higher, it sounds that way to me. And that's the kicker, my music is all digital these days and I only have one vinyl rip - Metallica's Black album. Despite logic saying that it shouldn't have any more DR than the CD - it just sounds like it does???? Hey groove - start a new forum topic with that video and see what people here think. I'm sure it would be an interesting thread Link to comment
moriez
The mandatory sorry for resurrecting.. Remotely related is that I bought the CD for ripping purposes only to find out I'm listening to a copy of the vinyl on CD. How on earth is that possible? Common practice? Link to comment
