coot
If you enjoy watching large-scale symphonic works (orchestra+chorus+pipe organ) as much as I do, here's one I enjoyed immensely: Mendelssohn Sym #2 "Lobgesang"; Riccardo Chailly conducts Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and Opera chorus & soloists. By the way, what is the correct pronunciation for "Chailly"? Link to comment
maelob
Both Mahler sym 2 and 8 are on blu ray also by Chailly and sound amazing. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005HK8KY6 Link to comment
Musicophile
By the way, what is the correct pronunciation for "Chailly"? Swiss public radio, which is usually pretty reliable for correct pronuciation of names, has the first syllable rhyme with "buy" and the second one with an open and long e, so something around "chuyee". It's a bit tricky, as the guy is Italian, but the name is French. Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment
coot
Later played the interesting interview chapter where it was pronounced "Shigh-ee". Accent on the last syllable. Link to comment
