Can anyone recommend good sounding CDs to rip

Recommended Posts

I'd like to know if any of you can recommend a particular version of the following CDs that I can rip -- to ensure of the highest quality sound, I was wondering if you guys can recommend a particular year of the CDs release and/or re-master

Thriller - Michael Jackson

The Confessor - Joe Walsh (at least the song "The Confessor")

Aqualung - Jethro Tull

Alannah Myles - especially the song "Black Velvet"

Hello, I Must Be Going - Phil Collins

Fly Like an Eagle - Steve Miller Band (I have a feeling the 30th Ann. CD will do fine)

Thanks

"Allways"…? (sic). That's really a ridiculous overgeneralization. Some early "Black Triangle" CDs (among the first made, and hence considered "demo" material) did a better mastering job than their European or U.S. counterparts, but not all. And, nowadays, when digital masters take the form of computer files that can be FTPed or downloaded instead of VCR tapes, you're likely to have the same mastering worldwide.

In the case of the two albums mentioned above, I suspect the high-res downloads available from HDTracks (the Thriller being a PCM conversion from the acclaimed SACD release) would be superior to any CD version, no matter from which country the latter came.
