Melvin
Big tennis and Serena fan. Glad to see Serena (at 30 years old) win the US Open Tennis final for the 4th time. She is an incredible athlete to say the least. Link to comment
mav52
I guess after that match the media ( tonight's news) is starting a lot of talk about the tennis players grunting when they hit a ball. The say the players back before the early 70's didn't grunt until Jimmie Conners started it back in the 70's and now most all players grunt... The Truth Is Out There Link to comment
Melvin
The grunting/screaming has made the game less enjoyable for many. I cannot watch a match involving Maria Sharapova unless I turn the volume down (almost off), which means I don't hear the commentary. On the mens side .. Gustavo Kuerten had a rhythmic whine/grunt that I just couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes. I loved his game and hated listening to him play! Andy Murray can at times have a similar whine/grunt, but much more tolerable. Speaking of Andy, nice to see him win a major! Link to comment
