The first night, our Triangle showroom at 8621 Glenwood Ave. in Raleigh will host Music Matters on Thursday, Nov. 17th. Our second evening will be Charlotte Music Matters, on Friday Nov. 18th in our Pineville showplace at 11409 Carolina Place Parkway. Both evenings will last from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm, with 30 minute presentations conducted every half hour.

<b>Wish You Were Here 24 bit / 96 kHz</b>

This afternoon I picked up the Wish You Were Here Immersion box set that was released November 8, 2011. The five disc set includes many of the same features as the Dark Side of the Moon Immersion box set.
Including but not limited to:
<ul><li>Wish You Were Here (2011 Remaster)</li>
<li>Unreleased tracks (Mixed and mastered in 2011)</li>
<li>24 bit / 48 kHz lossy versions of the 5.1 and Quad mixes</li>
<li>24 bit / 48 kHz lossless version of the two channel mix from 1975</li>
<li>24 bit / 96 kHz lossless versions of the two channel, quad, and 5.1 channel mixes</li></ul>
Ripping the Blu-ray Disc was very easy using the same procedure described in my <a href="http://www.computeraudiophile.com/content/Guide-Ripping-DVD-and-Blu-ray-Audio-Using-Dark-Side-Moon-Immersion-Box-Set">"Dark Side" ripping article</a>. Unfortunately the 24/48 stereo mix on the DVD was not as easy to rip. DVD Audio Extractor has a problem ripping only the stereo tracks using the normal method. I manually selected the largest VOB file on the DVD and was successful ripping the two channel 24/48 mix. This mix will come in handy for iPod/iPad/iPhone use as this is the max sample rate currently supported on such devices.
The sound quality of the 24/96 version is pretty good and lacks the dynamic range compression seen in the 16/44.1 Immersion version. Here are some screenshots of the entire 24/96 album, track four from the 16/44.1 immersion box, and track four from the Shine On box set as well as the Dynamic Range values after a quick analysis.

A couple quick notes.
<ol><li>Last week I visited the factory where <a href="http://www.constellationaudio.com">Constellation Audio</a> products are built in California. I saw a couple Hercules amplifiers have way through the build process. The build quality of these 1,000 watt, 275 lbs., $140,000/pair monoblocks is astounding.</li>
