Main activity : Welcoming the friends from Chicago at Port de Saint-Goustan in Auray

Gloria and Dave (the Cubs) arrived from Chicago over Paris CDG early in the morning. After a late breakfast inside “le petit Sommelier” they took a train from Montparnasse station (Paris) to Auray, a modest cantonal village close to the Golf of Morbihan and the Quiberon peninsula at the Western coast of France.

The city of Auray, only a 25-minute drive away from our location, allows nowadays a quick connection from/to Paris. In roundabout 3 hours you’ll get out of the French capital from Montparnasse TGV station.

Historically, Auray is best known for the final battle of the “Breton War of Succession”,  which will celebrate its anniversary next week (29th of September) the 658th time. It was the decisive battle where the French/Breton army lost against a English/Breton liaison (The Breton Duke was married with the daughter of the King of England). A masterpiece of French/British relationship, played during the 100-Year-War between these forces of monarchy.

The ancient commercial port of Auray, called Saint-Goustan, invited us to stroll around, have a rest and enjoy the peace of life in a historic Breton town. All options we were happy to accept. Feeding the “angry” (something like “hungry” - only in a Frenchy-style pronunciation) Americans with Galette Breton and Cider galore …

Audio System: System One

Featured today: The  Aiyima 08pro TPA 3255 Class-D Power Amplifier A perfect feature about the device can be found chez Archimago

We found the device to be perfectly suitable for the Q-Acoustics 3030i, and our temporary neighbors may sing one (or another) song about that. Big advantage, just send your file via BT to the device, fair enough if you sit outside with wine & cheese.

Weather:
The second day was still a bit too cold and windy, but the Breton flair did not last too long

The Canadians:
For practical reasons, the Canadian were left home for the Auray visit, but they already had a nice walk in “Le Forest” and in the local woods close to the Gite “Ty Josephine” chez “Les Gites de Kervac’h”

(this pic shows the Canadians in their natural habitat in the center of France, though the videos were taken in the local woods at Kervac’h)

About the Canadians, Frisby from Nova Scotia is 13 years old, Isis from Labrador almost 10. They walk now with age limitations only 3-4 miles a day, while they were used to do about 6-8 before Frisby lost capacity after a serious illness two years ago.

Beverage:

The drink of the evening had been the Breton Cider

Song of the Day (YT): Boys Don’t Cry – The Cure

Dave got overwhelmed from a dismal The Cure live concert during the flight, and as he constantly complained about that we could only cure him with the original record  - alas we got him back on the tracks …
