I have an Esoteric K07x Player/ DAC I bought new from an official dealer in the UK, a little over 2 years ago. Over time I noticed that the unit was humming loud enough to to hear across the room and it was clear the noise was coming from the front left of the machine where the transformer is located. This is the most expensive piece I own, yet no other item I have has ever exhibited this problem. I returned the item to the dealer under warranty last autumn and it was overhauled by Esoteric and (I think) a new transformer installed. It came back a little quieter but not by much. I commented to that effect to the dealer, who has since looked again at the machine in comparison with a loan example from Esoteric, which apparently had a more pronounced hum. The dealer has been excellent in the matter but I'm told that Esoteric's ultimate conclusion was (words to the effect that) "they just do that" and that I should put up with it. Given Esoteric's reputation I'm surprised by the initial problem, but much more so by their response to it. Do you think I am being unreasonable to expect Esoteric to provide a remedy? I shall certainly avoid Esoteric products from now on, but maybe I have a small claims case over merchantable quality, especially given the price of the unit?

Since I upgraded my OS X to Yosemite 10.10 on the MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012 with 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3) laptop, I now have garbled and slow playback with static sound when playing files through USB to my Esoteric K-03. I deleted the Esoteric high speed USB driver, re-booted, and re-installed the driver. I still get the same staticky, slow, garbled playback within a couple of seconds. This occurs with Audirvana Plus 2 and using the Esoteric HR Audio Player and also through Spotify. This did not occur before upgrading to Yosemite. Suggestions? Thanks, Jim

There is a free music player application on the Esoteric Japan website Products | ESOTERIC COMPANY. There are versions for both Windows and Mac. Although it is intended for Esoteric users of their DACs and CD players via the usual USB in PCM, I don't see why others can't try it with their own DACs. I've not tried this application on other DACs. The neat thing for me is that I can now play native DSD via USB through the Esoteric D1, without going through the contortions of setting up and adjusting ASIO for DSD playback on Foobar 2000. It comes complete with its own Esoteric ASIO driver which is installed automatically. There's an option to select native DSD (I assume that this is currently for Esoteric D1 only) or DSD to PCM. It will also load music to ram. It is very easy to use and sounds great on my system.
