    New Tweeter with Wide-Dispersion Waveguide

A new silk-dome tweeter features a wide-roll surround and takes response up to 35,000 Hz for even more lifelike high frequencies. The waveguide improves directivity control and eliminates the diffraction modes inherent in traditional box enclosures.

    New Woven Aramid-Fiber Woofer

The revised shape of the aramid cone offers even greater stiffness and damping, far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, extended low-frequency response.

    New Cabinets with Easier Placement

Thick MDF cabinets with a luxurious black ash vinyl finish are larger, and internally braced for greater stiffness and strength, greatly reducing cabinet vibrations which cause unwanted coloration. On the Bookshelf and Center Channel, moving the bass port to the front of the cabinet means placement against walls or in bookshelves won’t compromise performance.

These 3-way floor standers with a bass-reflex design are presented in very elegant looking black ash vinyl cabinets made from MDF and them slim format (40x7x9.2 inch) is far from room-dominating. I'd call it understatement.

The surface of the speaker's finition gives the impression of being durable and resistant, which I need to underline especially in relation to their MSRP, which is below 300 USD per unit.

The Debut 2.0 series has woofers and tweeters designed by ELAC vice-president of engineering, the famous Andrew Jones, who has spent the better part of 4 decade spanning career in the HiFi industry, having graduated from University of Surrey in 1977. He is  renown to many for his work with KEF, TAD & Pioneer and Infinity.

Mr. Jones decided for a wide dispersion waveguide for the tweeter with a response up to 35khz and 3 woven aramid-fiber woofers with a revised shape design and oversized magnets with completely redesigned custom drivers to enhance the success and value proposition he already achieved with the initial ELAC Debut series.

3 dual flared ports for backfiring of the bass define the positioning in a respectful distance to the back wall. The slim and 40 inch high towered speaker feature a smart connector to use with a safety cord against improper unbalancing and its consequences.

The acoustic impression of the speakers had been clearly dominated by this wide soundstage they are able to present and the natural and uncolored reproduction of music. The speaker are not necessarily depended on subwoofer escort with a low end around 42hz.

In my opinion, the ELAC Debut 2.0 FS 5.2 are an exciting value for entry level transducers and just perfect in the hands of teenager due to their robust design decisions. In that particular case, I think the matching ELAC subwoofer may be indispensable.
