Any more blown tweeters anyone ?

Recommended Posts

Has anybody had problems with blown tweeters in recent months ? Not keen to hook up my newly made music server if they are going to damage the heart of the system . As others have mentioned in other posts on this topic this phenomenon for some audiophiles is a deal breaker. Looks like it will be for me.

Modified CAPS 2 ( see my blog) , sotm dx usb feeds NAD M51 DAC ,Rotel 1066 amps , linkwitz orion speakers.

Nope, my Martin Logans Summit X speakers don't have any tweeters to blow.

I was enjoying my shiny new Apogee Rosetta 200 DAC when a week after receiving it the power went out and the DAC powered off sending a seriously loud thump through my active monitors & blowing both tweeters and causing amplifier issues in one of them that will cost me the price of the speaker to get repaired. I'm looking for a pre-amp needless to say...it's simply playing russian roulette without a volume control in the chain. That's my advice.
