One and a half
Dwindling CD sales and up take of MP3 have resulted in this news topic's content, that we sort of could see coming, but this soon? http://www.side-line.com/news_comments.php?id=46980_0_2_0_C AS Profile Equipment List Say NO to MQA Link to comment
dallasjustice
There's no real evidence that this will happen. This article is really another opinion piece. I don't know what I am talking about, so my prediction that CDs won't go away any time soon is equally valid. The author's opinion relies exclusively on logic and common sense, which we know are not applicable to record companies or most of their customers. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX Link to comment
One and a half
Even as far as three years ago, CD stores were in just about every shopping mall or High Street, these days, they only seem to be in large volume shopping precincts. The smaller stores are gone, and chains like HMV are really struggling, I bet their DVD/BD keeps them solvent for the time being, not CD sales. Come to think of it, I am wondering about hi-fi stores, retail (bricks & mortar) is pretty much dead already. The writing is on the wall for CDs and we have to put up with 256k quality from itunes as the main alternative? In that case vinyl's longevity may yet prosper.
