Kimo
on the various forum sites. I recommend the CD, even if you don't go with the blu ray. I would expect that the blu ray would be great as well. I am getting tempted to pull the trigger. http://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/showthread.php?14476-Jethro-Tull-5.1&p=136009#post136009 Link to comment
bottlerocket
What versions are available? Do you have to buy vinyl to get the blu ray? Is it only the blu-ray that have the hi-res PCM or is that on a DVD version? Edit - found a good description here: http://www.j-tull.com/discography/aqualungcollectors/index.html#details In theory one could obtain an easy rip of the 24/96 PCM off the DVD. Unfortunataly I don't need or want all the other stuff that comes with it, like vinyl, blu-ray and CD. Link to comment
Kimo
One could hope for an HD download. The vinyl really seems redundant in that it contains the same digital mix. The Blu ray looks like the main draw, again. Link to comment
mark871
Hi, I was very happy w the Blu ray until I heard anomalies ('breaklng up", sharp sounds) when listening to the the original 1/4 master selection of the Blu-Ray, specifically the flute solo section in "My God" ? Wondering if this is inherent in the tape or if my disc is defective as it's definitely not my system, etc. Has anyone else encountered this? Link to comment
Bobbeanbags
What is the bit rate for Blu ray ... 24/96? Link to comment
Kimo
Also included is a DVD at 24/48. I broke down and bought this. Very nice packaging. The book is great. I am now listening to the high resolution original mix on blu ray. Tough to compare with the remix since the difference is quite significant, but it is nice to have both in high resolution for sure. Kimo
On both the blu ray and dvd. The original quad is interesting. 2 channel is good on the cd too. Lots of repetition here for sure. Would have better as two cd set, with or without bonus dvd, stand alone blu ray, and stand alone vinyl. Link to comment
tmansrp
@mark871 - My Blu-Ray disc has the same loud clicks in the middle of the original mix of "My God". This likely occurred during the transfer process or at the disc pressing plant. It's the sole flaw in what is an otherwise stellar release. Link to comment
