Highly recommended to listen on your own. Quite good recorded, legit 24/96, recorded to tape AFAIR. ACT label, but this time they produced it with care I think.

Small update how it was recorded from Adam:

"It's not a tape but analog board and great old mic's at Hansa Studio Berlin. Mixed by Klaus Scheuerman"

Joe Tarantino remastered in 2010.

Ah, yes, the same as Qobuz has in its offer. Nice sounding, but too much reverb to the sax. Don't know if present on the tape or not, but too much IMHO. Anyway, great album.

Very well played and recorded at Watford Colosseum - one of the finest acoustical venues in the world. One issue, bit depth of the Qobuz files is 20-bit, not 24-bit, however liner notes saying that's recorded in 24/96 resolution natively, sampling is fine. Anyway, I recommend to check it out if you're not so familiar with polish composers. It got 5 stars on Diapason and was Gramophon Editor's Choice two years ago.

Top drawer Haydn. Recently got 2015 Echo Klassik award and many others. I like Volume I better than Volume II, but YMMV. Highly recommended and legit and true 24/96 recording by Alpha Classics - Outhere Group.

Agree, I'm not a big fan of Haydn's symphonies in general, but this cycle may be eventually able to change my point of view.

Antonini conducts the Berlin Phil this weekend with Haydn and Mozart by the way, if you subscribe to the Digital Concert Hall you can watch it live:

Side note: the Echo Klassik is one of those prices to take with a grain of salt, as basically sales figures are as least as relevant as artistic quality.

Thanks for reminding me about Digital Concert Hall. Regarding Echo Klassik grain of salt reception - I know it also, but this release got lots of other awards as well and I think it deserves them. I am not so much fan of baroque music in general, but this is very good conducted and recorded with passion.

I have to recommend this album. Recent remaster from ECM is just stunning in 24/96 and music is hypnotic. Oldies goodies with Redman, Jarrett and the best team ever on ECM.

Cavalli: L'Amore Inamorato (24/96).

Beautiful early baroque opera from a still rather unknown Monteverdi pupil.

Agree, very nice album with nice singing (like Nuria's voice) and playing. Legit high resolution recording.

Jazz in tribute to the Egyptian singer. Good stuff. Good sound.

Available in hi-res at Qobuz and ProStudioMasters, or at Tidal.

Streaming over Qobuz, quite interesting, but sounds a bit loud. Do you have any analysis of the sound - DR/Scopes? Music is fine, but to my ears quite hot mastered.

Dutilleux & Debussy: Tout un monde

Some more serious-minded work from the exquisitely sophisticated and oftentimes more playful French composer Henri Dutilleux, who is one of my favorites and someone I point to when folks ask for "accessible" modern classical music. This Debussy fellow also appears to be worth watching. An enjoyable and thoughtful collection, very well played and recorded. I listened streaming to CD-quality at Naxos's ClassicsOnline HD*LL.

I have recently ordered this one as physical CD - also very good to my ears, however not available in high resolution.

Hello Melvin & Bill,

Also arrived at the same destination, NO GO. So I improvised and having enjoyed the preview on YouTube, Amazon will be delivering the redbook CD in a day or so, actually Wednesday. For 13.99, I am happy to add it to my library.

Enjoy the music,

Richard

Thank you. Did I mistakenly leave you out of those to thank for recommending. Come to think of it, didn't you post that we lost Paul Bley in the first place just after he passed? If I left you out, pardon my oversight.

I recall how much I enjoyed the DL of Bley, Paul Play Blue Live in Oslo (solo). And gave it a listen waiting for the Amazon order to arrive on Wednesday.

Best,

Richard

This is fantastic album if you like cello from contemporary composer Peteris Vasks from Latvia! Sol Gabetta, Amsterdam Sinfonietta by direction of Candida Thomson, sound touched by Jared Sacks to name a few. Recommended.

P.S. I am not Brucknerian, but thrilled by the performance and sound - goose bumps after listening it to the end of the whole piece.
