mkrzych
Someone already mentioned it here, but I pulled the trigger and downloaded it from Qobuz. Awesome record. mkrzych
Antoine Tamestit - Paul Hindemith : Bratsche! Conducted by Paavo Jarvi Stunning sound quality and spaciousness. mkrzych
Someone already put this recording in spot and I pulled the trigger buying it on Qobuz. This is not easy listen, it's mostly improvised jazz music, kind of free jazz or avant garde, but very, very intelligent and even lyrical time to time. It is also stunning tribute to Annette Peacock, who has a wife for both gents - Paul and Gary. Highly recommended. Very good redbook quality too. -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. It is also the most noble. mkrzych
A stunning contrast in SQ but no less artistic as to technique and musicality, recommended by Krzysztof Maj, Paul Bley, Gary Peacock, Paul Motian, Not Two, Not One, redbook CD (ECM) 44.1/16 XLD conversion to AIFF. Production quality entirely available to the synergy I am now using via UpTone Audio/Amarra Symphony with iRC.Clarity, instrument voices, resolution, sustain, decay of piano's voice with pedals in use. Musical selections are not as interesting for me, but the production quality is enticing. I tend to shy away from "atonal" composition or if incorrect in my assessment of the style of play, whatever style it is. All Music, describes as avant-garde/free/piano Jazz. Sounds right as to sytle. However, it could not sound better as to fidelity. Win/win for me. Thank you Krysztof. Track three starting to interest me as more lyrical. SQ highly recommended as reviewed. mkrzych
Another recent purchase from Qobuz - on promotion now for 10EUR double disk. Paolo Fresu with his 5et recorded in 2008 in Italy. Fantastic music, captured with good quality. I like very much the interplay and sound of Paolo's horn/trumpet and Fazioli grand piano - stunning. mkrzych
Really tasty. I'm also working my way through the Hatology catalog on Qobuz. Did not get to this one yet. grazie - david Yes, they have quite extensive catalogue, mostly free jazz, avant-garde, but with stunning cast, so far I've discovered: Gary Peacock - Annette Marc Copland and David Liebman Quartet - Lunar Marc Copland - Haunted Heart and Time Within Time and that one mentioned here. -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art. [Original Jazz Classics Remasters] | Cannonball Adderley – Télécharger et écouter l'album Superb album and this version I suppose is Joe Tarantino mastering work. Vintage sound, spacious, warm and recorded to 2-track tape in 1961 at Bell Sound Studio in NYC. I tried earlier Dave Luke mastering CD, but sound dull and shaved from the air thanks to Dolby NR I guess - done on 20-bit Sony's gear. mkrzych
Interesting timing: Just recently acquired this very same remastered album, redbook CD from Amazon.com. Lucky us, Krzysztof, I concur with your assessment, if you know what I mean (smile). Julian and Bill are not strangers to each other, Kind Of Blue, 1958, for one. There were two others as well. Both left Miles' sextet, much to the chagrin, I believe, of Miles. I am a fan of both since age 8. Percy Heath and Connie Kay of The MJQ fill in the rhytmn section (there are no blanks). Enjoy the music, Richard Indeed Richard. I feel the same and very enjoy this album as Joe Tarantino as well - got tiny email exchange with him. -- Krzysztof Maj http://mkrzych.wordpress.com/ "Music is the highest form of art.
