Paul R
I have not listened to this album in a while, and it is breathtakingly beautiful. It is a blessing to have a short memory for audio. You get to be enchanted and swept up in the music all over again. Especially when sitting next to the one you love the most. -Paul Album: Respighi: Pines Of Rome; Fountains Of Rome; Debussy: La Mer Artist: Fritz Reiner: Chicago Symphony Orchestra Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat DAC. Paul R
Album: Vulture Culture Artist: Alan Parsons Project. Does a bluray feature count? Disc: La Fille du Pharaon (The Pharaoh's Daughter) - featuring the Bolshoi Ballet [blu-ray] Artists: Pugni To celebrate the centennial of the death of Marius Petipa (1818-1910) for the first time in Blu-ray (High Definition), Petipa's extravaganza,'The Pharaoh's Daughter' , in a stunning production by Pierre Lacotte. Recreating the spectacular sumptuousness of the original, the ballet tells the tale of a young Englishman who dreams he elopes with a Pharaoh's daughter. Despite a desert storm, a lion hunt and an attempted suicide, the couple finally wins the Pharaoh's blessing to their marriage. From its creation in 1862, Petipa's grandiose ballet was a sensational success; its stupendous costumes and striking scenery, its exotica, romanticism and drama appealing to audiences as much as the virtuoso choreography. The Bolshoi Ballet and the two soloists Svetlana Zakharova and Sergei Filin are at their best in spite of the difficulty of Pierre Lacotte's choreography. Paul R
That weirdly mutated guitar sound was absolutely unique to most of us, listening by the way on FM radio in our cars in those days. I still remember hearing it for the first time, and four of us sounding like Tommy Chong with a spontaneous "Wow man....", in unison. Paul R
That's a mouth harp? I was always under the impression that it was just his guitar. At least, I didn't see any mouth harp when I went to his concert lo many years ago. It looked to me like he was picking at his guitar... -Paul Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat DAC. Robert A. Heinlein Link to comment

Paul R
Album: Out Of Time Artist: REM Does anyone really need a reason to listen to this album? It's just fun! Album: Drum Music Land Artist: Ten Drum Art Percussion Group Heh- if you don't get lost in this album and find yourself thrumming to the drumming, you must be deaf! Album: The Essential Louis Armstrong Artist: Louis Armstrong Comon - it Looouuuiiiisssss.... it has to be great! Album: McCartney: Ecce Cor Meum Artist: Paul McCartney This music is surprising, not only because it is really really good, but in how complex the music makes some simple themes. Album: No Line On The Horizon Artist: U2 Guilty pleasures... Album: Stardust Memories Artist: Hoagy Carmichael Adults only on this randy raunchy but utterly delightful album! Album: Platinum and Gold Collection Artist: Gladys Knight and the Pips Gladys has a phrasing and artisty to her music that nobody has ever duplicated. Plus her wonderful voice is surrounded by cool as all get out 70's funk! Album: The One Artist: Elton John A couple of the cuts on this album really show what Elton is capable of, and is probably the pinnacle of pure pop music. The title cut is wonderful when listened to on a revealing system. A master level performance, along with minimum compression and a forward mix make this one of, if not my very favorite Elton John album. Album: Sweet Baby James Artist: James Taylor This album has Fire and Rain on it. Never have tottaly understood the song, but it tugs at my heartstrings anyway. Album: Golden Girl (The Columbia Recordings 1944-1966) Artist: Doris Day More guilty pleasure, this one in Mono and a joy to listen to. Doris Day has one of the most spectacular voices and delivery ever, as well as being one of the most beloved celebrities ever to grace the silver screen. Everyone my age had a crush on her at one time or another. Album: Inspector Morse: Volume 1 Artist: Barrington Pheloung This music is purely wonderful, and transports you to the shaded and sometimes seedy, but also twisted and complex world of Inspector Morse. A Oxford police detective with the oddest cases you can imagine, a strong taste for beer, and very strong opinions. Same music is used, in the contemporary Inspector Lewis series now running on ITV and Masterpiece Theater. Album: Soundtrack from Twin Peaks Artist: Angelo Badalamenti Comon! This DEFINES creepy - damn that little dancing midget... Album: Sea Airs Artist: Rick Wakeman A long time favorite of mine. One of the best recordings of Wakeman doing what he does best.
