1TB of FLAC music

Recommended Posts

Dear all

I am looking for some advice on how to get the best results from my computer based music library.

I am currently using the following set up.

1 TB HP netbook using Foobar 2000 with a Sennheiser BTD300 USB transmitter.

Chordette Gem > Cyrus Pre xp > 2 x Cyrus x power amps > B&W CM1's

Atlas Hyper interconnects and Atlas Hyper 2 speaker cables.

All my music is stored on the 1TB external hard drive of the netbook and is sent via bluetooth. The Gem is APT-X enabled.

The question is:

Am i wasting my time sending FLAC files to the Gem due to the lossy element of Bluetooth/aptx.

Is there a more efficient, but not overly expensive, lossless way for me to get the music playing from my hard drive.

My guess is i'll need to dust my wallet down and get a different DAC.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the speedy reply Chris

Due to complete and utter laziness i prefer to just sit on my sofa and flick through the tunes on the computer then stream it wireless.

I currently have the netbook attached to the Gem by USB, using my iphone as a remote for Foobar.

So, in short, laziness equates to wireless.

I am very much a novice to all things audiophile and would hate to think i am not realising the full potential of the Cyrus equipment by feeding it sub-standard streams.

I have to say that the actual sound quality is far and away more superior to anything i have owned in the past, however i just want to make sure i am not doing the whole system an unnecessary disservice.

Thanks
