From what I read from it’s capabilities at this time it’s a “streamer” limited to Tidal with “more services to come” and a CD/SACD player but does not have digital inputs and is not a ROON endpoint which limits its usefulness for me. 
 

Not sure why they didn’t include or have any plans for local server/Roon endpoint but with tons of files and it being limited to 24/192 not sure where it fits.

To my understanding (and correct me if I am wrong), this can't, and they have no plans to allow this to play local files as a ROON endpoint or any other digital input from a server and will ONLY be able to be used as a streamer with TIDAL (for now) or as a CD/SACD player. My further understanding is that there are plans to release a Studio Dac that will do what I wish this was doing, with no deifinte release date other than "sometime next year".

 

They were showing this with Bending Wave with their new Comtesse as well.  Bending Wave, USA will be getting one as well. Look forward to both of your opinions. Bending Wave guy is nuts over the BIG WADAX but at that price, more than my mortgage it better be.

Here is my "current setup" with huge M10 centered, the rack with CH C1.2 DAC and CH L10 preamp to the right, the latter will ultimately be going into that alcove the right after I get my curtain treatment and 7-meter interconnect. 

 

I was hoping this WADAX would play local files BUT the "ultimate" (at my price point) DAC remains to be seen.

Totally agree. 
 

As I said to my pal from Bending Wave, “the industry” has lost all sense of and grasp on reality when a 40k CD player and streamer is looked upon as a “bargain” and because of the bargain it is void of basic capabilities almost all of us require. I was pretty disappointed at the news.

It hasn’t been but am open to anything at this point. I’m in no rush as the C 1.2 is a great performer as my interim. I’ll listen to what others have to say about it before exploring
