However, what pisses me off is the number of companies that have switched from using their own websites to forcing you to sign up to Facebook if you want to access their site information. Add to that how Facebook and Google encourage you to use them as logins so those behemoths can track your every move. If they demand I use FB or Google to sign up, I don't sign up. Getting of of FB was one of the best little decisions I ever made. I don't waste time there, and the number of creepy directed ads I get dropped like a rock. Google and Facebook try to follow all your web activity, even if you don't use them. So I use browsers and mail that that don't allow tracking and an anonymizer/anti finger printer when I browse. Also stopped using gmail as my main mail, as they data mine your mail when you open it. Also dropped google calendar and try not to use Google search. Switched to Proton Mail and Calendar, and am pretty happy with them. Unfortunately, sometimes Google search is the only way to actually find what you are looking for, so I still use it sometimes. There are also privacy oriented DNS servers one can use. I'm under no illusion that I'm anonymous on the net, but for sure Big Brother knows way less about me than before. I pretty much never get a targeted ad or message. Of course I realize that Qobuz and Roon know a lot about me. Sometimes you pay for your thrills. Hopefully one day there will be laws in place that force users consent for their data to be collected, and also require payment to collect data. No reason those companies should make billions in profit b/c they mine all that for free, and without full consent.
