hvbias
Hello everyone I read Chris's excellent guide on ripping DVD-A with DVD Audio Extractor but still have a few questions specific to the HDAD+ I am interested in extracting just the high resolution lossless 2 channel audio in 24/96 and 24/192. I am not interested in the 3-channel. On the double sided DVD there is a DVD-A on one side and DVD-V on the other. The DVD-A side has "two channel 24/192 data and three channel 24/96 data. The DVD-V side has "two channel 24/96 data and three channel Dolby AC-3" When I place the DVD-V side in my DVD drive to rip with DVD Audio Extractor the two channel 24/96 shows up as "LPCM" in the program. But on the DVD-A side the two channel 24/192 is MLP. Is the two channel 24/96 data on the DVD-V side truly lossless? Or is the LPCM a lossy Dolby format? I am interested in extracting the lossless two channel audio, but my DAC is limited to 24/96 which is why I am concerned about the 24/96 two channel portion being labeled as "LPCM" and not MLP Thanks Link to comment
goldsdad
Hi doc Both are lossless LPCM = Linear Pulse-Code Modulation - uncompressed lossless MLP = Meridian Lossless Packing - compressed lossless [url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_pulse-code_modulation>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_pulse-code_modulation Link to comment
hvbias
Thank you goldsdad, I guess I was worried about why the insert said Dolby AC-3 on the DVD-V side. Link to comment
goldsdad
The 3-channel tracks will be AC-3 to fit them in the limited space remaining on the disc after the lossless stereo tracks, I guess. Link to comment
