Joebah
Anyone have any experience or opinions on the Fubar IV Plus? It is a combined DAC and headphone amp. Fubar IV Plus Looks like this might be something to get me started... (Also eyeing the E-Mu 0404 USB 2.0.) I am on a Mac. Office desktop: iMac ((Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) (4 GHz Intel Core i7) (512GB SSD) (32GB Ram)) => USB (Kimber Kable USB Silver) => V-Link 192 USB Input => V-Link Coax Output (AQ Sidewinder) => Schiit Bifrost Multibit Coax Input => Schiit Bifrost Multibit RCA Output => Schitt Pyst => Schitt Asgard 2 => (Audioquest - Mini-3) => Audioengine HD6 (slave connected with Audioquest Type 4 cable) (Pangea AC-14 Power Cord) (IsoAcoustic L8R155 stands) => Audioquest Sidewinders => Audioengine S8 Subwoofer Link to comment
Paul R
But a company that would name their product FUBAR is probably really FUBAR. I know, you can't judge a book by it's cover, but I'm not so sure that saying applies to not judging a book by its name! -Paul *In the unlikely event someone doesn't know what FUBAR means - Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition. Replace "fouled" with a much more blunt word that also starts with "F". Anyone who considers protocol unimportant has never dealt with a cat DAC. Robert A. Heinlein Link to comment
Audio_ELF
The Fubar (yes it's a bad name I agree) is better than a look at it's spec may indicate... Eloise Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
wasima
Hi - I'm very new to this, but I did purchase a Fubar IV Plus so I could connect it to my Airport Express via optical - it makes my music sound wonderful. Reading the posts here I'm sure other DACs would be great too but so far no complaints. I have had audiophile friends use it with high end headphones and the music sounds amazing. No idea what jitter is - i.e. what it sounds like - so can't comment on whether the Fubar makes it better or worse. Very happy with my first DAC Link to comment
