External/internal storage for a Nuc on network

Hello all,

 

I’m using a Nuc with an external HDD for music storage (powered by USB). This NUC is connected to a switch, not directly to my streamer.

 

I just ordered a fanless case that can accept a 2nd disk.  

I’ve read opinions about ssd vs hdd but it is usually in the context of a direct connexion to the dac/streamer.

In my case, would an external HDD/SSD with its one PSU give a noticeable uptick in SQ compared to an internal disk with SATA?
