Does Chord Hugo TT2 use digital domain volumn control, Will this impact the sound qulity?

Recommended Posts

Hi:

I'm using Chord Hugo TT2 as my desktop DAC, and I'm satisfied with it's sound quality. I'm using Chord spm 600 amplifier to drive my Susvara due to everybody know it very hard to be driver. Due to I don't have pre-amplifer, so I have to use TT2 as AMP mode, so I can use it like a pre-amplifer to control volumn.

I recently read some articles which said that digital domain volumn control will impact the sound quality. So anybody know if the TT2 AMP mode use digital domain volumn control and will it impact the sound quality?

As I understand it using digital volume control causes loss of the least significant bits and the usual deflection is that with music upsampled to 32 bits this doesn’t matter, can’t really hear the added bits past 24 bits… they are there to allow the upsampling algorithm a place to move upsampling distortion out of the audible range
