OUT OF PHASE

Ed Fielding

Question

Stupid question but I’ve a Pioneer A443 Integrated Amplifier and over the past month it’s been on occasions clicking just the once and volume going down then coming back ( Really odd )

Last night it did it and now the amp sounds out of phase for some reason all of a sudden  - No distortion just kinda odd

question is van a amp be out of phase ?
I know speakers can but there fine

It's not a stupid question but realize we're talking about a 30 year old unit that sells today for $100 to $200 at best.  Not to discourage you, but unless there's something particularly compelling or sentimental about it, the repair cost may quickly overwhelm the potential resale value.

I would hazard a guess that the specific issue with the unit is likely related to dried out capacitors either in the power circuit or with any part of the unit.

Every dog has his day, and a lot of gear was intended for a short life.  Meaning - you have a unit full square into that category.
