A I'm using a Trinnov and it does change how my speakers sound, but I'm not sure I get what he means by "basic sound." If I walked out of the room and came back in, I would have to listen for a while before I told you if the processor (what they call Optimizer) was on or off, so in that sense I would say the basic sound is the same. However, switching it on and off while seated, it is very obvious which is which. With it on, and I'm talking 2 channel here, things open up, soundstage increases and deepens, it gets smoother like butter in a good way, not a glossed over way, and it just sounds better. I attribute that more to phase correction than frequency as my speakers are plus/minus 5 dB in my room uncorrected. They are flatter corrected but not dramatically (the slight rise below 100 and roll off above 2K is programmed into my target curve) so that can't explain what is happening. retro 1 see my system at Audiogon https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/768 Link to comment

bbosler
so now we are curious... how do you intend to wire all of this up? It is going to take quite a bit of speaker cable and interconnects. Can't imagine using zip cord with speakers like that 😄 That's a LOT of Transparent cables are you going to do a permanent install, run the wires inside the walls? see my system at Audiogon https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/768 Link to comment
bbosler
Canare 4S8 Star Quad 16AWG 4-Conductor Speaker Wire https://www.markertek.com/product/4s8-gy/canare-4s8-star-quad-16awg-4-conductor-speaker-wire-gray-per-foot 74 cents a foot, I use this for my main system, any more for this application is a waste of $$ the microphone cable also makes great interconnects this is what Benchmark uses for their cables. BTW Benchmark ABH2 would make great amps for this application (I know you have your amps) The Computer Audiophile 1 see my system at Audiogon https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/768 Link to comment

He also recommended their interconnects so I made some using the same cable Benchmark uses, they sound great so decided to make some speaker cables. I believe Uptone uses a version of these for their DC cables. You can read about Benchmark's reasons in the link below which I have no way of verifying. The fact they are 4 conductor was not the reason I chose them.. I chose them because they sound really good and compared to audiophile cables they are basically free leaving me some $$ to buy what I think really matters, including more records. https://benchmarkmedia.com/collections/all-products/products/benchmark-speaker-cable-nl2-to-nl2-2-pole The Computer Audiophile and Kal Rubinson 1 1 see my system at Audiogon https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/768 Link to comment
bbosler
I actually did use the heavier speaker cable https://www.markertek.com/product/4s11ft/canare-4s11-star-quad-14awg-4-conductor-speaker-cable-grey-per-foot 22 minutes ago, Kal Rubinson said: I concur but Benchmark's cables are NL2 To BANANA-2 which are ideal for their amps. If you want Banana-2 to Banana-2 for other amps, Blue Jeans makes them in custom lengths. good point.. I did DIY because I have an unusual configuration (tri-wiring) but for most people the few cents saved by DIY isn't worth the trouble. I also recommend using longer interconnects and putting the amps as close as practical to the speakers. Benchmark balanced cables or balanced pro audio interconnects (microphone cables) are a great option if you don't want to mess with DIY ,, Canare and Mogami are options https://www.markertek.com/product/l-4e6s-bk/canare-l-4e6s-star-quad-microphone-cable-by-the-foot-black https://benchmarkmedia.com/collections/all-products/products/benchmark-starquad-analog-xlr-cable?variant=1109900901 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GoldStu25--mogami-gold-studio-microphone-cable-25-foot-xlr-xlr lots of options in the pro audio world see my system at Audiogon https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/768 Link to comment
