Popular Post Iving
1. Affordability. Pointless thinking about ambitions outside available resources. If I have a budget of 10k, I am merely dreaming if I am ruminating on 100k products. My thinking will already have been informed by what I have available to invest. 2. Vitally - the extent to which a given purchasing decision/product will achieve what I want to achieve. This is always a SQ enhancement. But it is also inevitably a functional issue (e.g. I need a pre-amp with at least one pair balanced inputs etc). Software is a strange thing. foobar2000 is functionally amazing - perfect almost - and is free. But I paid happily for HQPlayer solely on the basis of its SQ-promoting mathematics. I feed it with foobar2000's functionality ... I still use foobar2000 for everything (including Library management) - except actual playback. Thus - for both hardware and software the foremost consideration is achievement of a functional objective. 3. So I am going to list a related and indispensable factor upon which good decisions must hinge - my own research. This Forum is nothing short of a fantastic resource - the main reason I continue to hang around - probably. 4. Is the product involved a quality product - one in which I can have confidence in terms of both build credentials and endurance/reliability. 5. Are its aesthetics/look/feel/vibe a match for the remainder of my system. 6. Resale value a bonus. 7. If I am going to have to deal with people - sellers - whomsoever - is it going to be a hassle-free ride. Are they going to be reasonable. Will they deal respectfully with pre-sales enquiries. If I have a legitimate post-sale issue, will I be able to get it resolved without disproportionate pain. Thinking back on some past experiences I could rank this #1. Although ranked last now - the truth is I probably already ruled out a bunch of possibilities based on what I already know. I am comfortable with this. If the people are rum - likely the product is too. A good pre-sale conversation is very reassuring. I sell music formats online. I am used to dealing with various situations. I welcome reasonable enquiries from reasonable people. It helps set the scene for mutually happy outcomes. The Computer Audiophile and opus101 1 1 Link to comment
