Android Play in a car compatible with an Android OS in DAP

This is interesting. 

 

It's hard to say that the sound would be improved at all, over using just an Android phone, because car head units use so much digital signal processing. If the digital signal is input into the head unit and DSP'd to death as is the usual case, I'd just use my phone. In fact, this is what I do with Apple's CarPlay.

I'm using an iPhone X into Carplay streaming Qobuz. I'm wondering if the signal is analog or digital. If analog having a better front end would make a difference. If digital you are right it won't matter. Since Carplay is considered a pass through I am wondering if the lightning connector is passing analog similar to the way it does when using the 3.5 mm jack adaptor for the lightning output.
